Seal Disturbance, once again we are having to say the same thing...

Written by: | Posted on: | Category:

Another week of reports of seals being approached both whilst on land and in the sea, around the coast, in harbours and around beaches. Please do not approach seals or attempt to touch or feed them. There are a couple of seals who are somewhat habituated, who may approach people, but seals are still wild creatures with teeth and claws and carry zoonotic diseases. If you encounter seals whilst exploring our coastline, please move away and observe from a distance. Adult female seals are pregnant at this stage so especially need to be left to rest and should not be disturbed back into the sea.
