Who we are

Based in Brixham, The Seal Project work across the South West surveying seals around the coastline. Covering Torbay and the South Hams we encourage others to support and protect the fantastic seals who we are fortunate enough to share our shores with.

Sarah Greenslade

Sarah is our founder member of The Seal Project, key BDMLR marine medic, working towards her Advanced Medics award and our senior survey member.

Her identification work of South Devon seals is important to the Project and equally as part of a the Seal Research Trust's (formerly Cornwall Seal Group Research Trust) seal identification database.

Her stunning photos of the seals are found in the gallery, and can be purchased via the shop or through email request.

Sarah undertakes seal surveys at all hours of the day, ranging from the early hours until dusk.

The Seal Project is proud to be part of The Seal Alliance, which includes country wide seal groups, along with our friends at Seal Rescue Ireland.

As a seal identifier for the Seal Trust Trust she has increased the picture of seal activity in the South West, and can easily recognise many returning seals to the area by their fur patterns and their behaviours.

Sarah volunteers all of her free time and encourages others to get stuck in and help their coastline.

She is available for presentations and talks about our work and the seals, schools, clubs, groups and can cover all age ranges and various aspects of our work.

Lee Allen

The survey team depend on Lee's ability to care for and skipper the wildlife survey boat.

It is a careful job to manage a boat so that it is still enough for team cameras to observe and survey the local seal population.

He is incredibly careful to ensure that distance is maintained so that our work can continue without any disruption to the marine life.
